[ Of course Ouma will take the opportunity to wax on about his organization, so he's glad Shuichi asked!! Even if he's reiterating and not really ever revealing anything (top secret, okay), he likes talking about it.

He stretches his hands out a bit while he's talking. ]

A huge, evil one! You'd probably feel sorry for me if you knew about the kind of depravity I have to deal with on a daily basis--

[ He trails off when he sees Shuichi react like that with the pillow though, tilting his head questioningly. ]

-- Ah, did you find something?

[bro don't say the word "depravity" right now, his brain can't deal with that.]

[That was...way too quick a denial, dude. Please work on your lying skills outside of literal life-and-death matters. It's probably a stupid thing to lie about anyway, but the idea of Ouma in possession of something like a pair of handcuffs is a little unnerving in the best of situations. Here, it's doubly unnerving and comes with implications he's trying very hard not to think about, thank you very much.]

[ ...

It's such a bad lie that it's almost funny, and the corners of Ouma's mouth twitch as he forces an unyielding smile about it. ...But the sudden interest is so obvious in his eyes as he looks over at where Shuichi is.

Only a second or two later and Ouma's turning over to put his weight against his knees on the bed so he can crawl closer. ]

Weeeell, it won't be a big deal if I look then, right? Yoink--!

[ He is definitely going for that pillow. ]

[It's definitely not that big a deal. He doesn't care. Nope, nnnope...

Fuck, it absolutely feels like a big deal right now. Ouma grabs for the pillow and Shuichi instinctively dives for the pillow to block him, ending up sprawled over the mattess on his stomach with one hand reaching to hold the pillow down, the other trying to pin down whichever one of Ouma's hands was closest to grabbing it.]

[ So much is happening.

Ouma's a bit thrown off by Shuichi's sudden movement, and he stares for a second at this predicament of Shuichi's attempt at keeping him from looking. Instinctively, he'll be trying to yank his hand away from Shuichi's attempt to pin it. ]

C'mon, no fair! I wanna see, too!

[ He has two hands, though!! So while Shuichi is presumably preoccupied with the one, he'll be trying to slide the other up underneath the pillow in spite of Shuichi holding it down to make a grab for whatever's under it. ]

It's not important!

[Like hell is that argument gonna do anything to convince Ouma of all people, but hey, he's gotta try.

He does have the advantage of being bigger, if only by a little. Shifting himself to get more body weight over it, he can hold that wrist down even with the struggling. It's comes at the cost of additional effort on the other hand, though. He tries to press down harder on top of the pillow to pin Ouma's other hand beneath it, but he can't get the grip needed through the fabric and cushioning to actually restrain Ouma's hand properly, especially without the force of his concentrated efforts.]

[ As if Ouma is going to let this go, especially when Shuichi is so adamant about not letting him see -- obviously that's just going to make him want to even more.

He grins when he feels the metal object against his fingers, making quick work of getting a grip on it so that he can jerk it right out from underneath the pillow and hold it up, immediately looking pleased just by virtue of having swiped what he was after. ]

Ha! Got 'em.

[ It quickly becomes much more amusing when he notices it's just a pair of handcuffs. Ouma is getting way too much of a kick out of this now. He admittedly expected something worse from Shuichi's reaction, but in a place like this it's pretty clear what their intended use is probably for. ]

So these are what you didn't want me to see...? Wow, Saihara-chan! Just what are you thinking about?

[It was probably hopeless from the start, thinking Ouma might just leave it alone or that Shuichi could keep him away from anything he's determined to get into. But he'd had hope even still. Shuichi groans, dropping his head against the matress and the fight goes out of him. At least he can just hide his face against the sheets in the absence of his hat.]

I'm more worried about what you're thinking about...

[It's a little muffled against the sheets, but his voice sounds pitifully defeated.]

[ Ouma laughs when Shuichi resorts to burying his face in the sheets -- not that he's going to complain about that, because if Shuichi's not paying attention then it just makes it that much more easy for him to pull shit.

-- Like snapping one of the cuffs around Shuichi's wrist on the hand that had just been trying to pin his own down only seconds ago. ]

It's your fault, you know. 'Cause my head was only full of innocent thoughts before this...

[ The other part of the handcuffs, as Ouma will make evident by lifting up his own wrist and moving his sleeve down, is already attached to Ouma. He's grinning big about this, too. ]

[He should have expected the sudden press of cold metal to his wrist and the following click. He should have at least anticipated something of the sort enough to keep a careful eye on Ouma.

That isn't to say he's surprised, though. Flat against the bed, he stiffens at the cuff suddenly snapping around his wrist, but doesn't immediately move. No, he has to take a moment to think about how of course something like this would happen. He just groans softly into the sheets before lifting his head to give Ouma a flat stare.]

Where's the key?

[He'd only gotten a brief look at the cuffs before rushing to hide them. He hadn't noticed if the key was with them at the time. Either way, this is definitely a better subject to focus on than exactly what kind of thoughts Ouma's got in his head now...]

Dunno. Probably around here somewhere.

[ He shrugs, seeming pretty unfazed about this. ]

Not that these are any problem for me to get out of. You, on the other hand.. Well, I guess you'll need my help!

[ He smiles as brightly as possible while he mentions this. ]

[Right. The lockpicking. Of course Ouma would only appear to be pulling a stunt like this without any forethought at all. Shuichi didn't really think the other boy would have haphazardly gotten them stuck like this without an escape plan in mind. Ouma's too smart for that.

He sits up, already frowning at the resistance he can feel when moving his cuffed arm. Picking the pillow back up with his free hand, he isn't surprised either to find no key left behind beneath it. Of course not.

Shuichi sighs. But at least he can cling to that feeling of exasperation over the embrassment lurking just beneath it.]

Get it off, Ouma-kun. We can't stay here forever, and we can't go back out like this.

Okie-dokie! Sure thing!

[ Ouma moves to grab Shuichi's arm with his uncuffed hand, like he's being agreeable or something.

-- Although he ultimately just pulls on Shuichi's arm to try and bring him closer, leaning closer into Shuichi's face as he tacks on: ]

Oh, but I want something from Saihara-chan first, of course.

[ It's only fair! Even though Ouma's the reason Shuichi's even in this predicament... ]

[He's more surprised by the moment it seems Ouma might just simply cooperate than anything else. Blinking at the other boy, he's off guard enough that he's tugged in easily and with a soft sound of shock. Shuichi catches himself with his free hand on the bed between them, just barely keeping himself from knocking entirely into Ouma, but the end result is still far closer than he was prepared for.

Color flooding his cheeks again, he leans back whatever little bit Ouma's grip with allow him. He frowns through the blush, trying for sternness. He's at least confident he knows Ouma well enough to tell where this might be going. A game or something, frustrating and unnerving but ultimately harmless.

Sighing a breath through his nose, he yields.]

What do you want?

[ Ouma grins in response to Shuichi's reaction, thinking that it's terribly predictable for a guy like him but entertaining nonetheless. ]

It's totally your fault I'm even thinking like this, buuut...

[ He'll let go of Shuichi's arm, if only so that he can point toward Shuichi's face with an index finger as he indicates what he means. ]

I really feel like taking your first kiss from you right now!

[Ouma's finger in his face drags Shuichi's cuffed hand along with it. But that's fine, because Shuichi's face goes red after a moment wherein that sinks in, and Ouma's hand gets jerks around in return as Shuichu's hand darts to cover his mouth, the back of his palm over his lips like he half expects Ouma to go for it right that moment.]

Quit messing around! I'm serious.

[It's Ouma, after all. Of course he'd lie. He's just trying to get a rise out of Shuichi, right? Right?]

[ Ouma blinks when Shuichi ends up dragging his own hand along, raising an eyebrow when Shuichi covers his mouth like that. ]

Ehhh? You don't think I'm serious? But I'm not into lies or jokes!

[ It checks out... ]

Well, whatever. I'll do it for something else, then.

[ He seemingly gives up on that easily enough. Although he doesn't care for his hand being jerked so Shuichi can cover his mouth, so he's going to grab Shuichi's wrist and subsequently try to ease Shuichi's hand down a bit.

But it's also partially because he doesn't want anything obscuring Shuichi's face when he asks this. ]

... Tell me you're not interested.

[He's tempted to use the other hand to cover his face instead, but that one's supporting his weight where Ouma's got him leaning in. He can't lift it without probably falling forward and probably headbutting Ouma.

(That does sound more and more desireable by the moment, though.)]

I...

[It should be easy enough to comply, but his voice catches in his throat guiltily. As much as he wants to just say it to escape the situation, as much as he's ready to just take the blow to his pride and give Ouma the victory here...

He can't get the words out when they're a lie. When he knows Ouma must know they're a lie, because he always knows, because he wouldn't have switched courses like this without being pretty sure he'd still get what he wants. Which is...? Right now, Shuichi would guess just embrassing him as thoroughly and painfully as possible. Well, mission fucking success. He's been trying his hardest not to think of those kinds of things since they stepped into this building, with Ouma dropping comments all the while to provoke those thoughts, but he can't evade them when it's all being shoved right in his face.

Red with shame, he ducks his head as best he can in that bit of space between them, desperate for even the cover of his bangs hanging over his face. His lips press together tight, eyes clenching shut.]

...Don't tease me like this. Please.

[Ouma seems to love getting under people's skin, but this just feels mean. It's going too far.]

[ Ouma stares at Shuichi's reaction, not finding it particularly amusing for whatever reason. Maybe he's getting bored.

Although that's not quite true either, since the fact that Shuichi didn't say he wasn't is spinning around in the back of his head as he tries to decide how to process that. Maybe if Ouma was more honest himself, everything would be easier and less inelegantly executed all around -- but what is Ouma, if not an incomprehensible mess. Or at least, that's the image he wants for himself.

He ends up sighing, tilting his head with a half-smile as he uses the hand that isn't cuffed to lightly poke at Shuichi's forehead, like he'd like for him to look up again. ]

But are you sure I'm only teasing you?

[ His tone turns more serious, although he still can't bring himself to be straightforward. It'd probably be optimal to ditch the subject, and he's oh so close to doing just that -- pass it all off as a lie, or whatever. But there's still a part of him that wants Shuichi to figure it out, that finds the idea of that enthralling while simultaneously almost disliking it.

He doesn't dislike Shuichi though. ]

[The prodding gets him to look up at least a little, peeking up through his bangs. Ouma's expression is less intense, more unreadable -- which, ironically, feels so much more sincere coming from him.]

You always do...

[It almost sounds sulky in conjuction with his sagging shoulders and unhappy expression. How else is he supposed to interpret it, after all? All the games and weird comments, the "my beloved Saihara-chan", this...

Ah. Hm.

His gaze goes a bit more thoughtful, more like when he's trying to figure things out during a trial. It drifts across Ouma's face, searching and pensive.]

Do... [The question dies in his mouth and first and he has to gather himself, shove down the doubts and smother the self-deprecating voice insisting this is a vain and absurd line of thinking.] ...Are you interested?

[It feels ridiculous to even suggest it. But he's a detective. The evidence should come before his own feelings.]

[ ... Oh.

He really asked. Huh. Ouma didn't really expect that out of all possible outcomes, which only serves to make Shuichi that much more immediately interesting.

He looks confounded for a few seconds, but he doesn't want to be dumbfounded, so he starts running his mouth without leaving too much of a pause. Even though he's still unmistakably contemplative about it. ]

Hmmm...? So you're gonna turn it around on me?

[ His tone ultimately switches from thoughtful to a little pouty and less serious (his ultimate comfort zone), and he'll even huff and look to the side. ]

That's so mean... I'm pretty shy, y'know.

[ -- Although when he turns to look at Shuichi again, he'll meet him with an easygoing grin, seeming to perk back up pretty fast. ]

... But that's a lie! Yeah, I think you're so interesting, Saihara-chan!

[ Listen..............that's as close as he's going to get.

His brain is panicking, but he's just going to smile here. Reset button on his feelings and all that!! ]

But it's okay for you to do it to me...?

[Shuichi sighs, unsurprised by the shift but a little disappointed that that little bit of seriousness, something resembling sincerity, hasn't lingered. He can't even really be mad about the apparent double standard. His face is still tinged with pink, but he's at least feeling steadier like this, on the offensive and trying to counter all Ouma's standard bullshit.]

That wasn't really the question.

[Which is...potentially more telling than an actual answer either way, from a liar like Ouma. It definitely suggests...something. It's hard to let himself think about that too hard, though. He's not really sure what he'd do with that information.]

[ Ouma scoffs a short laugh at Shuichi calling him out like that, shrugging his shoulders about it. ]

You got me there... Then I'll rephrase it, I guess?

[ For whatever reason, it always becomes more fun when Shuichi starts digging like this. But the last thing Ouma wants to do is lose control of the situation, so it's a little easier to reevaluate and switch his approach as Shuichi gets more adamant.

There's already not much distance between them here, but Ouma won't shy from leaning more into Shuichi's personal space again, bringing the hand that isn't cuffed up to the side of Shuichi's face -- both because he wants to, and because he doesn't really want Shuichi looking away this time. If Shuichi wants a better answer then Ouma's sure as hell going to make him face it. ]

I'm definitely interested in kissing you.

[ His tone is leagues straighter than before, although there's no clarification whether that's a lie or not.

Shuichi's gotten this far, after all. ]

[For someone who was chasing a more straightforward answer, Shuichi doesn't look he was prepared to actually get one. His eyes widen slightly as Ouma cups his face, flushing and wanting to hide and yet being completely unable to. It's not even Ouma's hand keeping him in place. It's that sudden directness, the closeness, Ouma's eyes pinning him down.]

O-oh.

[That's...he shouldn't say surprising. The evidence kind of suggests it isn't, and he'd have to be impossibly dense to say it is just because he can't imagine anyone actually wanting to. That's not logical, that's just his own shitty self-esteem.

And why is he actually thinking about this? Isn't something like this what he was dreading since first laying eyes on the hotel? This has gone so off the rails of their little "investigation" and straight into much more dangerous territory. He should be shutting this whole thing down as sternly as possible, making it clear he isn't going to humor these kinds of games. He should be, so why...?

Well, Probably because Ouma absolutely hit the nail on the head. He is interested. Or maybe curious is the better word for it, or...hell if he knows. The idea of kissing or anything else is definitely enticing -- as it should be, given he's a teenage boy -- but would he be actually considering this if it were someone else here with him? He can't imagine giving in if it were Iruma-san or someone suggesting it. It's just that Ouma is...kind of fascinating.

That's probably the better word for it. He can't help but be fascinated by the possibility. Ouma's always been able to catch his attention like no one else does, for better or worse. The other boy is fascinating, a walking mystery just begging him to dig into it and find the truth. Ouma figures out things no one else seems to even suspect need figuring out, and yet makes himself so impossible to figure out. Shuichi does admittedly want to explore things as much as any other boy his age, but more than that, he wants to follow this lead Ouma's giving him, even knowing it was purposefully given and he might be stumbling right into a trap.

His eyes flick to Ouma's mouth just briefly, and his jaw tenses like he's just settled on a decision. Tentatively, like he half expects Ouma to pull back at the last second and say he was joking, he leans in to close those last few inches of space between them.]
